The European Commission for Foot-and-mouth Disease based in Rome (FAO) organized a training for laboratory biosafety officers in laboratories dealing with foot-and-mouth disease diagnostics (“Biosafety officer training”).
The training was held in Skopje (Macedonia) from January 20, 2015. until 22.01.2015. The training was intended for participants from the countries of the Balkan region. The meeting was attended by one representative each from Serbia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and three participants from Macedonia as the host country.
The lecturers were EU FMD collaborators from the UK and Denmark working as biosecurity officers for foot and mouth disease in their countries.
The representative of Serbia was Mr. Ljubiša Veljović as a member of the national reference laboratory of the Republic of Serbia for foot and mouth disease.
