The Russian Ministry of Agriculture announced today that a mass death of bees was registered in at least seven Russian regions this year, Anadolia reports.
Experts have warned that the irresponsible and inappropriate use of pesticides is the main cause of insect suffering in Russia.
The Russian ministry stated that the suffering of bees also represents a major financial blow to beekeepers.
Russian television on Monday quoted a farmer as saying he had lost 100,000 bees last week alone, and footage showed fields covered in dead insects.
The Ministry sounded the alarm and engaged the competent services that should implement preventive measures.
